Fleur
I always did feel like Fleur got a raw deal in fandom, espcially with what the movies did with her. I mean, she was chosen as a CHAMPION, there's more to her air and fluff and girly-girlness. And Veelas can turn quite ugly in more ways than one, if I recall.
That said, using her vanity as a flaw is good...if only it were shown as being more of a FLAW than a RIGHT. As in, shown in a negative light. I've got a character who's incredibly gorgeous but ridiculously vain, and it gets on everyone else's nerves and they laugh at him for it. And yeah, no love for Madame Maxime's portrayal in this fic, at all.
And yeah, why GREEK gods/goddesses? That bugs me too...Artemis isn't ROMAN, she's GREEK...her Roman counterpart is Diana, and Apollo is the same in both...*mythology geek*
Am I the only one who wants to see a part-Veela who is physically ugly, but her Veela heritage (meaning, whatever it is that they give off to make people get all funny; I don't think it's just their appearence, I think there's actually magic involved) makes people really attracted to her anyway...or maybe a part-Veela who realizes she doesn't need to give a damn about her appearence (hair, clothes, weight, etc.) because men will fall all over themselves for her anyway...or maybe in a huge stroke of irony, a lesbian part-Veela who can make men go into trances, but can't get a WOMAN? Yeah, so much more can be done with part-Veelas than "omg so pretty!!1one!"
